Tips To Reduce Build Costs

There are ways to reduce build costs, & your mortgage, but this can only happen with YOU making some hard decisions about your future home.

Here are some suggestions:-

  • We build big houses- reduce the floor plan area. eg: Reduction from 200m² to 180m² may shave over $34,000 off a basic level build!
  • Simplify the building footprint - the more external corners there are then the greater the cost to build.
  • Keep exterior wall cladding options to a minimum: 1 exterior cladding is the most economic.
  • Keep roof layouts simple: Complex roof/roof junctions & roof/wall junctions add to the cost.
Understand that the building footprint & exterior look (elevations) will be extremely difficult & costly to change in the future.
  • Consider cost efficiency for the Interior: Interior Finishings, Fixtures & Appliances can always be upgraded.

IMPORTANT - As you start to shave costs of your new home, consider ways how the house is going to save running costs into the future.

SIMPLY - consider 'Best Practice' for building insulation. It's very difficult to upgrade wall & ceiling Batts after the Gib is installed!
